SCCA Atlanta Region Hoosier Super Tour at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta

March 7-9, 2025

Oh what a difference a year and designating a race as an “H Prod target race” makes. At the 2024 Road Atlanta Super Tour the HP entry was four cars with both races won by Vesa Silegren in his first gen Honda CRX. The entry for this upcoming weekend’s version of the race stands at 15 as of this writing!

The Hoosier Super Tour (HST) returns to the 2.54-mile, 12-turn, natural-terrain circuit that once hosted the Runoffs for 24 years in a row. A week out, the weather looks to be cool with a chance of rain on Saturday.

The most interesting story is the rematch of the 2023 HP Runoffs podium. The top three drivers; Jesse Prather, Chuck Mathis and Steve Sargis will all be there.

Prather has made the necessary body repairs from his contact with Mathis at Road America and upgraded to remote reservoir shocks on his Mazda 2. Chuck Mathis has made aero improvements to his VW Rabbit. Reigning H Prod HST Nationwide Points Champion Steve Sargis in his Triumph Spitfire may be able to close the gap to the Mazda and VW with Road Atlanta’s twisty layout that rewards corner speed, compared to Road America’s long straights. But Mathis contends that it is still a horsepower track with the slowest turn leading on to the longest straight. (And let’s not forget the hills to be climbed at turns 1, 5 and 10). This will also be the first matchup since the Mazda and VW got 50lb added in December. Should make for an interesting BOP comparison.

Another interesting facet to this race is the entry of four Fiat X1/9s! Led by Matt Brannon, who finished just off the podium in fourth at last year’s Runoffs. Brayden Connolly is in the sister car to Brannon’s. Larry Svaton, who is coming off a pair of second place finishes at last week’s Eagles Canyon Majors race. Russ McBride will be driving the Fiat that he purchased last year from Svanton

Others to watch are last year’s winner Vesa Silegren in his CRX and fifth place Runoffs finisher Chris Albin in a VW Golf.

For those coming to Road Atlanta that want to park together we'll be set up in the "Upper shelf" area above the infield paddock. It’s a nice low traffic spot with paved and grass areas, easy route to the pits and avoids the train wreck of the main paddock area.

This will also be the location of the chili party Friday evening.

H Prod at the Texas SCCA Spring Fling Majors Eagles Canyon Raceway

Fri, Feb 21 - Sun, Feb 23, 2025

Eagles Canyon Raceway

Eagles Canyon Raceway, in north central Texas, is a 2.7 Mile Road Course with 15 total turns and over 200 Feet of elevation change. In 2024, both races at this Majors weekend were swept by Jesse Prather in his Mazda 2, but this year Prather is keeping his powder dry for the upcoming Road Atlanta HST, two weeks later. The weather for this weekend looks to be cool but sunny.

The H Prod entries have a unique match up. A pair of MGBs vs a pair of Fiat X1/9s, all out of Texas. Larry Svaton is out for his first Majors race in his X1/9 and Chuck Brehm has moved from a Triumph Spitfire into an X1/9 that he purchased from Svaton last year.

The MGB flag is being carried by James Melady and Neil Verity who had repairs to make after a December Regional race off track excursion.

Of note, the Majors/HST average car count should go up to 2.3 after this weekend when combined with the entries at Buttonwillow. Let’s keep up the good work.

Like all SCCA Majors races, this event counts towards the 2025 H Production Nationwide Points Championship, presented by the Ignition Speed Shop.

H Prod at Cal Club SCCA Hoosier Super Tour The Circuit @ Buttonwillow Raceway Park

February 22 - 23, 2025

Buttonwillow Raceway Park - The Circuit

California’s Buttonwillow Raceway Park has always been part of the Hoosier Racing Tire SCCA® Super Tour. What makes this year’s event special is that it is being held on the all-new, 2.579-mile, 10-turn Circuit at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. The first race on the new track was an SCCA Majors, only a few weeks ago in January. The only H Prod entry was David Snow, who is not currently entered in the upcoming HST Race. The two-day event is hosted by SCCA’s Cal Club Region.

A week out from the race, we have four entries in HP; 2024 Western Conference HP Champion, Lee Fleming in his MG Midget; Noel Hayward in his Linnspeed MG Midget; Tom Tuttle, out of Texas in a MINI Cooper; Bobby Beyer who brings his Toyota Yaris to Buttonwillow with a new ECU and plans to run more races this year.

Online coverage begins with qualifying on Saturday, H Prod is in group one. Tune in and catch all the excitement through SCCA’s YouTube page, with commentary provided by Brian Bielanski and Gregg Ginsberg.
